Success and Failure

Success is the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors; the accomplishment of one's goals.  I think everyone has been successful at everything they have attempted in life.  If you try something you are one step closer at succeeding than not trying at all.  One will succeed at things if they take the chance to try it and keep trying to reach their own success.

Failure is nonperformance of something due, required, or expected.  I think everyone fails at things that they are too afraid to try.  One has to try something if they want success and not trying makes failure.  I think in the past things like my fears and self conscious thoughts have held me back into failure. My realization of my fears will guide me to be more determined to become successful.

At the beginning of my Genius Hour running I started out being successful and was motivated to run but that gradually changed when I made up excuses because of the weather.  I began to become a failure and didn't run at all.  Then I realized that I didn't like myself being a failure.  I realized that the excuses were only hurting me and I was better than that.  I think that I have become successful daily with my running and working out everyday (except rest day).  I hope that my hard work will help me reach the healthy body I am working for.  I have recently decided to attempt a 12 week plan of swimming and will keep up my running and biking to train for triathlon...we will see how it goes.

Buddy or no buddy

That is the question. When we run is it easier to have someone with us or better to do it. Running with someone else is good because they distract you from the running and can help be a motivator to run faster and farther. It's sometimes nice to just to have someone with you and safer!  I use running as a way to relax and take a break from everything so sometimes it is nice to run by yourself and get to go at the pace that you want to.  It all comes down to ones personal opinion and how they are feeling before you run.

Ease into 5k App

I really like using the Ease into a 5k app because first i'ts free.  The app with yell out to you what you need to being doing at a certain time.  It shows you what you will be doing for the workout before you begin.  The app has the option for you to download your music to it so you are able to listen to your music but also hear the commands.  The app also comes with the option to keep a journal about how your runs went.  After each of the workouts it will report the miles along with the minutes to see if you are improving at all. Also has a calendar along with it to show you what days you have ran.

It Needs to be Warm

This stupid winter weather is messing up the plan to run a 5k.  It just needs to get warmer so i can actually run outside.  I had to run on a treadmill which i hate.  I feel like it is harder to run on a treadmill but its probably no different than just running.  It was easier to run with the app though then just plain running with no plan.  I just hope i can stop having to run on the treadmill and it can just be warm.

Parkside Fun Time

My brother plays baseball and sometimes he practices at Parkside.  Since it has been freezing outside I didn't want to go outside so Parkside sounded like a good idea.  I'm not a fan of running inside because all you do is run in circles.  Outside you can make it fun and have a destination. That time i forgot my headphones though so it was awkward when i would pass someone and the voice would talk.  I hope they didn't think it was me because i don't have a man voice.  It wasn't a horrible experience i just wish it wasn't winter outside.  Maybe i should just move to Florida.

Winter Sucks

I will never understand what i was thinking picking running for my genius hour project.  I mean who wouldn't want to run in the freezing weather and snow?  One day after school i wore three layers of clothes on to go for a run.  I have heard that it's sometimes not good to run in the cold but it really depends on what you are wearing.  So I Googled to make sure i was wearing all the right clothes to stay warm.

Clothes to Wear for Running in the Winter

  • Keep your hands and feet warm- gloves/mittens and cotton socks
  • Wicking layer
  • Insulating layer
  • Wind/Water proof layer
  • Tights/Running pants

Take me back to Florida

Over Christmas break I took a trip to Florida.  While i was there i went running in the morning when i wasn't being lazy. But i did meet my goal of running three times while i was there.  I had a lot better experience then when i went for a run in Michigan.  It was SO much warmer  there but not too hot because i went in the morning.  It was perfect.  It was easier to tell myself to keep running because i wasn't frozen while doing it.  I really like the app because it tells you what to do and when it tells you to walk its the best feeling.  So when I'm running i am just thinking about how happy ill be when it tells me i can walk.  The app really does help you be able to run for a longer time because you have something to follow and you aren't just running.
